HORSHAM — Every ten minutes, Hallowell Elementary students “walked this way” to experience six different educational stations for “Walk this Way Day.” Students learned safety practices, fitness routines or healthy lifestyle tips from community organizations.
“Walk this Way Day is a fun event for students to connect with the Hatboro-Horsham community and learn about making positive choices,” said Principal Steve Glaize.
Held on October 1, students rotated through the following stations, spread across the school’s campus.
Fitness and Activity: Community members from local fitness clubs and organizations coached kids through aerobic exercises and drill sergeant activities.
Montgomery County Health Department: Montgomery County Health officials taught students best practices for pedestrian and bike safety.
U.S. Air Force: The U.S. Air Force brought vehicles and gear to show students.
Horsham Township Highway Department and Horsham Township Sewer Authority: Township workers informed students about their work to keep the community safe.
Horsham Township Police Department: The police department visited with one of their K-9 dogs and squad cars.
Hydration and Nutrition: Students enjoyed a healthy snack: water and apple slices.
