In recent months, pit bulls faced negative attention due to reports of aggressive behaviour. However, one brave pit bull named Jenny became an internet sensation after she saved children from a deadly King Cobra in Jhansi. The incident happened in Shiv Ganesh Colony when a venomous snake entered into the garden where children were playing. Their laughter quickly turned to screams soon after spotting the snake. During the incident, Jenny was tied at the other end of the garden, but she immediately broke her leash, rushed to help the children and fought against the snake, by violently biting and shaking it. As per the video circulating online, for about five minutes, Jenny held the cobra in her jaws, until it was no longer a threat.

Punjab Singh, the house owner, shared that this is not the first time she has protected lives by fighting against snakes. He mentioned that Jenny has actually killed around eight to 10 snakes till date. Their house is located close to fields, where snakes often appear during the rainy season. On the day of the latest incident, Singh was not at home, but his son and some children were playing in the garden. When the house owner learned about Jenny’s courageous act, he realised how serious the situation could have been if the snake had entered the house.

As per NDTV, Punjab Singh — sharing details about the conflict between his pit bull and king cobra — said, “The house help’s children were playing when a black snake appeared. The children screamed and the snake turned to flee. That’s when our pit bull noticed it, broke free from its leash and attacked the cobra, killing it.”

“In today’s world, as people drift away from animals, these animals are doing jobs that humans should be doing. I believe that we should show love to animals. People often say negative things about pit bulls, but mine has never harmed anyone. The fight between the dog and the snake lasted for almost five minutes. If Jenny hadn’t killed the snake, a tragedy could have occurred. She saved lives and earned our gratitude,” he added.

Punjab Singh mentioned that he has other dogs as well, but Jenny has often fought with such snakes. He recalled how she once saved his brother’s life. Other than multiple dogs, they also have a mongoose that helps keep their home safe from mice.
