Major groups in “Iraq’s Islamic Resistance” have vowed to join Hezbollah to “directly confront” Israel if it launches a ground invasion of Lebanon. The umbrella group of pro-Iran fighters made the decision during a meeting in the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Sept. 23. A senior Iraqi resistance official told this to the London-based al-Araby al-Jadeed news outlet. The official said the meeting included commanders from groups like Kata’ib Hezbollah, Harakat Hezbollah al-Nujaba, and Kata’ib Sayyid al-Shuhada. The meeting concluded with a decision for “direct confrontation” alongside Hezbollah against any potential Israeli ground operation in Lebanon, the official said.
