These 'Reacher' Season 3 Characters Could Become Your New Favorites

Reacher is back with new episodes on Prime Video. Season 3 premieres its first three episodes on Thursday, Feb. 20. Like the previous installments of the streamer’s hit thriller, this season finds the former military investigator in a new town dealing with new enemies. In short, he’s back on his vigilante justice grind.

When it comes to Reacher, going rogue is about as natural for the big man as breathing is for the rest of us. This key personality detail made the hero of Lee Child’s book series so popular. Yet, as much as Jack Reacher loves to go solo and operate under the radar, the character cannot work alone. Technically, it wouldn’t sustain an eight-episode story arc, let alone multiple seasons. The emotional stakes would simply fizzle out. There’s only so much brooding an audience can take. 

Whether it’s officer (and love interest) Roscoe Conklin (Willa Fitzgerald) from season 1 or Frances Neagley and the surviving members of the Special Investigators from season 2, it’s become evident that Jack Reacher is only as interesting as the characters he’s paired with.

A new cast of heroes and villains enters his world in the latest episodes (which takes inspiration from Lee Child’s book Persuader). Once again, teamwork makes the dream work in season 3, whether Reacher likes it or not. 

By now, I’m sure you see where I’m going with this. Jack Reacher isn’t the only MVP here. Read on for a rundown of five key players that keep the action coming in season 3 of Reacher.

Susan Duffy

(played by Sonya Cassidy)

As soon as she comes on screen, Susan Duffy is a standout. She’s a no-nonsense DEA agent from Boston who cuts through the tension with her intelligence and snarky sense of humor. She comes to Reacher for intel on a missing woman and soon becomes his partner in fighting a brutal crime boss.

Zachary Beck

(played by Anthony Michael Hall)

There’s more than meets the eye with Zachary Beck. He’s the owner of a successful rug business named Bizarre Bazaar, which, by all accounts, is a legal operation. At least, that’s what he wants everyone to believe. As you can probably guess, it’s not. Reacher ends up involved with Beck, as he investigates a criminal conspiracy.

Paulie 

(played by Olivier Richters)

Alan Ritchson is a sizable dude, which makes his casting as Jack Reacher quite fitting. As towering as he may be to most, Reacher meets his match in season 3 when he meets Beck’s bodyguard, a former army officer named Paulie. Played by former bodybuilder Olivier Richters (who stands at 7 feet, 2 inches tall and goes by the name The Dutch Giant), it’s clear that the two will eventually go toe-to-toe in the new episodes.

Francis Xavier Quinn

(played by Brian Tee)

The demons from Reacher’s past keep coming back to haunt him. In season 3, Quinn is that demon. He was a lieutenant colonel who Reacher investigated for selling national secrets back when he was still in the army. Needless to say, it sounds like Quinn has only gotten worse over time. 

Frances Neagley

(played by Maria Sten)

Aside from Jack Reacher himself, Frances Neagley is the only other character who appeared in the first two seasons to be back in this new installment. Reacher mentored her when they were in the military — she was part of the 110th Special Investigations Unit that he led. 

As we previously saw in season 2, the job of a military investigator is neither easy nor safe. But she proved her mettle then and is back to do so again.

Neagley has left the Army and is now a tracker and private investigator. Maria Sten’s character has made such an impact that Prime Video is making a spin-off series focused solely on her. Say hello to the Reacher cinematic universe. 

As you may expect, she turns up when Reacher needs her most — even if he won’t admit it. But that’s what a confidante is for. You could even call her his bestie, but I don’t think Reacher would agree. Once a lone wolf, always a lone wolf.
