Lifestyle Enterprise is expanding its functional upholstery category at HPMKT.
HIGH POINT — With an eye on consumer behavior, Lifestyle Enterprise is bringing something for every home to the company’s showrooms at High Point Market.
In what might be referenced as a democratization of customization or “by the slice” purchase options, Lifestyle is offering modular upholstery that allows consumers to configure sofas and sectionals to fit small or large spaces in a variety of fabrics and silhouettes, most priced less than $999 retail.
Along with the numerous modular options, Lifestyle is also expanding its functional stationary category, adding extra features to frames including storage and sleep/lounge options: multipurpose furniture that maximizes square footage in limited spaces.
“We’re introducing over 20 new upholstery SKUs across our assortment of stationary, motion, modular programs and our chair program,” said Michael Hsieh, CEO. “Consumers expect more than what they see, and we’ve focused on how to offer more design and flexibility for everyone at affordable price points.
“Lifestyle will continue to build upon the success in the functional stationary category,” Hsieh said. “Although this is relatively new on the retail floor, this category has been met with increasing success. Today, consumers are living in smaller spaces and this product meets the lifestyle requirements and offers the functions and storage needed. Lifestyle has taken a leadership position in this category and has expanded our assortment, supporting the needs of our retail partners.”
Several upholstery SKUs that received a strong response at the recent Shanghai furniture show have also been added to the High Point showroom, adding new contemporary silhouettes to the style mix. The company’s tariff-free showroom space features stationary options that highlight contemporary designs, along with value-priced SKUs including a $399 retail sofa with the style and price likely to appeal to younger buyers.
An addition to Lifestyle’s health/wellness category is a value-priced line of massage chairs with retail prices ranging from $999 to $3,999. The Zen Wave line features “intuitive robotic massage,” officials said, and is designed to help retailers address consumer demand for health/wellness products for home. After a pilot launch in April, Lifestyle is showing a full line of new product in the Zen Wave category for fall with features including zero gravity, heat therapy, whole body air pressure, touch screen controls, Bluetooth connectivity, wireless charging and a full five-year warranty.
Lifestyle is unveiling the Total Home program at this week’s market as well, an initiative that allows retailers to buy from inventory and mix products in one container. The Total Home program operates out of Lifestyle’s 200,000-square-foot warehouse in Malaysia, a dedicated facility with inventory valued at $12 million, providing what officials reference as “readily available furniture solutions for retail customers.”
“We’re not an importer; we’re a sourcing company,” Hsieh said. “We can create styles that differentiate retail floors and offer customization for the mass market at value prices.”
