A Redditor in a post detailed how he was helped multiple times when his scooter broke down during heavy rains in Ahmedabad.
An act of kindness could often be found in the most unexpected places, and a man’s recent experience in Ahmedabad has beautifully illustrated it. Amid the continuous heavy rains that caused widespread flooding across Gujarat, a Redditor found himself stranded and was helped by the goodwill of strangers. In his post, the Redditor recounted how his scooter broke down after water entered the vehicle’s filter, leaving him stuck on the road. Despite the challenges, he encountered several kind-hearted individuals who came to his aid, including one who pushed his scooter with his leg while riding on his bike.
“Today was quite a day. I got stuck several times while riding my Activa because water entered the filter, and I couldn’t start the engine. At different points, several people stopped to help. One guy even pushed my Activa with his leg while riding his own bike!” he wrote on Reddit.
The user further detailed how his scooter repeatedly stalled, but each time strangers stepped in to help. Eventually, his vehicle broke down at a mechanic’s shop. Needing to travel to his home which was located at a distance of just 300 metres, he found an auto-rickshaw. Despite the challenging weather, the auto driver only asked for a fare of Rs 30. “It broke down again right near a mechanic shop (lucky break). I found an auto to take me home. It was just 300 meters, and the auto guy only asked for ₹30. I gave him a bit extra and thanked him,” he said.
In conclusion, the Redditor expressed his deep gratitude for the support he received. “Having lived in Bengaluru for 5 years, I can say the auto guys there would’ve asked for ₹200 with a straight face. Feeling really grateful today,” he noted.
Since being posted online, the post has garnered significant attention, sparking a range of reactions from social media users.
In the comment section, one user expressed, “Glad to hear that. Keeping some shits aside which are there in every city, people here in Gujarat as a whole are pretty decent and helping.”
Another added, “Indeed a large number of people are very sweet and helpful here.”
Someone else comparing their experiences in Ahmedabad and Delhi, wrote, “I am from Delhi, I stayed in Ahmedabad for 2 years. I noticed their kindness, one time it rained so there were puddles everywhere, I was walking on a dirt road, a bike literally stopped for me to cross the puddle. Once I was buying some vegetables, an aunty came and suggested which ones are better and will last longer. In Delhi, that bike would have gone in full speed splashing water on me and any aunty would have filled her bag with better vegetables.”
