Woot's Cyber Week Apple Watch Series 9 Is a Steal at $360

The Apple Watch Series 9 is quite a capable smartwatch. Even though the Series 10 currently gets the spotlight, you can find last year’s watch at a reduced price by going with a refurbished model. I regularly check Apple’s certified refurbished store to find better deals on devices. Now, just for Cyber Monday, Woot’s shopping site is offering a refurbished Series 9 at a price that’s substantially lower than what Apple typically provides.

The Wi-Fi and cellular-enabled Apple Watch Series 9 in stainless steel is selling for $360 on Woot for both the 41mm and the 45mm models. In comparison, Apple’s own refurbished store sells the 41mm in stainless steel at $509, while the 45mm sells for $549.

It’s worth noting that this Apple Watch sale only comes with a 90-day warranty covered by Woot, whereas buying from Apple’s refurbished store provides a one-year warranty. It’s unclear if purchasing this watch through Woot would make it eligible for AppleCare Plus insurance, whereas devices purchased directly from Apple, including refurbished devices, qualify. Depending on how risk-averse you are when it comes to watches, AppleCare Plus insurance might be something to consider. (I personally prefer to keep an AppleCare plan attached to my Apple Watch SE because I was able to quickly replace it when its side button malfunctioned. By comparison, my colleague David Lumb was quoted a $390 replacement cost when the sensors in his stainless steel Apple Watch Series 5 became damaged.) 

If the limited customer support from Woot isn’t an issue for you, or you generally decline insurance plans like AppleCare, don’t pass on this deal. It’s a good way to snag an Apple Watch with cellular connectivity and an always-on display, as well as the ability to use the double tap gesture and other newer features. Plus, you’ll save a lot of money than if you went to Apple’s own store or bought the newer Series 10 watch.
