Winter Session of Parliament: Reacting sharply to Akhilesh Yadav’s fiery speech in Lok Sabha on the Sambhal violence issue, the BJP rejected his allegations and said that no one was killed in the police firing on November 24.

Lok Sabha on Tuesday witnessed an Akhilesh Yadav vs BJP debate on the Sambhal violence issue as the former alleged killing of innocent people in the police firing while the BJP denied the allegations.

Samajwadi Party MP Akhilesh Yadav raised the Sambhal issue in the Lower House and alleged that the incident was orchestrated as part of a “well-planned conspiracy”.

He said that people were shot dead in the police firing and injured in the firing and asserted that bullets were fired at “Sambhal’s harmony”.

This comes as Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla allowed Akhilesh to speak on the matter during the Zero Hour. The Samajwadi Party had skipped the INDIA bloc’s protest against Adani in the Parliament complex before the start of the day’s proceedings today.

Akhilesh Hits Out At Yogi Govt In Lok Sabha

Speaking in the House on the matter, Akhilesh lashed out at the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh alleging that “bullets were fired at Sambhal’s harmony”.

“Sambhal is known for its harmony. But the sudden incident that has taken place in a well-planned manner. Bullets have been fired at Sambhal’s harmony. The incident is a well-planned conspiracy. The talks of digging there by the BJP and its supporters will bring an end to the communal harmony in the country.

The bypolls in UP were earlier scheduled for November 13, they moved it to November 20,” Akhilesh said.

The Samajwadi Party MP painted his version of the picture of the violence and alleged that the police opened fire using their “government and private weapons”.

He said that the local court ordered a survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid in Sambhal without listening to the Muslim side. “On 19th November, the survey was conducted and the report was to be given to the Court,” he said.

He further said that another survey was conducted on November 24 during which the people gathered to know the reason behind the survey.

“Circle Officer abused the people gathered there and lathi charge was done. After this, police opened fire with their government and private weapons, during which dozens were injured and 5 innocent were killed,” Akhilesh made the massive charge.

He further demanded that a murder case should be registered against the police and Sambhal administration. He also sought their suspension “so that people can get justice and such an incident is not repeated in future”.

BJP Reacts Sharply To Accusation

BJP’s Amroha MP Kanwar Tanwar Singh rejected Akhilesh’s allegations and told CNN-News18 that no one died in the police firing and people died in the firing by the protestors.

“What happened in Sambhal is similar to what we saw in the Sabarmati Report. Akhilesh is speaking all lies,” he said.

The Sambhal administration earlier dismissed the allegations of killing in police firing and said that the deaths took place by .315 bore bullets, which are not used by the UP Police.

“The post-mortem report revealed that most deaths during the Sambhal violence were caused by firearm injuries, likely from .315 bore bullets fired from country-made pistols at close range. Police primarily used pellet guns to disperse the crowd. Authorities are investigating whether another group of protesters was responsible for firing these fatal shots,” Moradabad Divisional Commissioner Aunjaneya Singh said.

Sambhal witnessed violence on November 24 after a court-ordered survey team went to conduct a survey of the Shahi Jama Masjid. Mon pelted stones at the police and indulged in arson. Four people were killed in the violence while several others were injured, including over 20 police personnel.

The survey was ordered by the court after a petition was filed claiming that a Harihar temple once stood at the mosque site.
