This news comes just hours after Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat revealed that Shinde is expected to make a significant political decision within the next 24 hours
Maharashtra’s caretaker Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde, who is currently in his village of Satara, is reportedly unwell. A team of doctors has also visited him to assess his condition.
This news comes just hours after Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Shirsat revealed that Shinde is expected to make a significant political decision within the next 24 hours, as suspense mounts over who will be the next Chief Minister to lead the Mahayuti-ruled state.
Shirsat hinted that the suspense surrounding the identity of Maharashtra’s next Chief Minister will soon come to an end, with an announcement expected by midnight. He also added that the oath-taking ceremony for the new CM is scheduled for December 2.
“The leaders of Maharashtra met at the residence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday. The decision on the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra will be taken by PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah,” Shirsat told the media, news agency IANS reported.
The Shiv Sena leader further stated that whenever Shinde is set to make an important political move, he tends to retreat to his native village. He also clarified that Shinde would not be taking a position in the Union Cabinet, as his primary focus remains on Maharashtra’s politics.
Speaking about Shinde’s health, his family doctor said he is doing fine now and is suffering from a fever and its side effects. “It’s been two days now. We have given him antibiotics. We are a team of 3-4 doctors,” he told news agency ANI.

‘Shinde is not upset’
On Friday, another Shiv Sena leader, Uday Samant, dismissed speculation that Shinde had gone to his native village in Satara due to being upset, as government formation has been delayed. Samant clarified that Shinde had been unwell when he met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi on Thursday night.

Samant, a minister in the previous Shinde-led cabinet, further emphasised that Shinde had made it clear he would accept the decision of the BJP top brass on the next Chief Minister. He added that Shinde should be part of the new government.
BJP Offers Shinde A Role In New Mahayuti Govt
A crucial meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and alliance leaders was held in Delhi on Thursday night, where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) reportedly offered Shinde the position of Deputy Chief Minister in Maharashtra. However, Shinde, who had initially sought to retain the Chief Minister’s post, is reluctant to accept this offer, creating a political dilemma for the BJP.
Sources told News18 that Shinde has asked the BJP to consider another leader from his Shiv Sena faction for the Deputy CM position. He is even contemplating staying out of the government altogether. Despite this, the BJP is unwilling to let Shinde step aside, citing his importance in the new government.
