Verizon Fios Outage: Customers Report Issues With Home Internet Service

-

Verizon internet customers began reporting issues with their service overnight and into the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 12, with most of the complaints coming from the east coast.

According to Downdetector, more than 41,000 reports flooded the site at around midnight to 2 a.m. ET, slowed down, and then began to rise again in the morning, but at a much lower rate. The most-reported cities with Verizon outages included Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, the Washington, DC area and Los Angeles. Some areas of the midwest also appeared to be affected, according to Downdetector’s heatmap. (Downdetector is owned by the same parent company as CNET, Ziff Davis.)

As of Tuesday morning, Verizon, the nation’s largest wireless provider, hadn’t posted any information on how widespread the outage is or when it might be fully resolved. The company acknowledged issues in one Verizon Support response to a customer on X, but the last time it mentioned any outage problems officially was on Nov. 7 in a post related to phone lines.

“A network issue early this morning disrupted service for some Verizon Fios customers in the Northeast [for] a short period of time,” a company spokesperson said in a statement to CNET. “As soon as the issue was identified, our engineering teams quickly restored the service.”
