As the political mercury is rising in Maharashtra ahead of the assembly polls, visuals of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde getting angry at Congress workers is going viral on social media.

The incident took place while the Chief Minister’s convoy was crossing Congress leader Naseem Khan’s office in Chandivali constituency when several party workers started shouting slogans calling him ‘traitor’.

Fumed over the ‘Gadar-Gadar‘ (Traitor) sloganeering, Chief Minister Shinde got out of his car and went straight to the Congress office to confront those who raised slogans against him. Shinde reached the Congress office and questioned, “Do you teach all this to your workers?”

The ‘traitor’ slogans by Congress workers came in response to the 2022 rebellion led by Eknath Shinde which resulted in the collapse of the then Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi government in Maharashtra, comprising the united Sena and NCP and the Congress.

In May this year, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi also sparked a row after she targeted Shinde and his MP son Shrikant with ‘Mera Baap Gaddar Hai‘ remark.

“Who are you Eknath Shinde? What are you? You are nothing but a ‘gaddar‘ (traitor),” Chaturvedi had said, referring to the split in the undivided Shiv Sena.

Maharashtra Set For The Big Fight

Maharashtra is set to witness a tough contest between two alliances — the Mahayuti, which includes the BJP, Shiv Sena (Shinde faction), and NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) and the Maha Vikas Aghadi, which includes the Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction), Congress, and NCP (Sharad Pawar faction).

Leaders from both alliances are actively campaigning for the elections. Voting for the Maharashtra elections is scheduled to be held on November 20 and the results will be declared on November 23.
