The Penguin has proved itself a worthy spin-off successor to Matt Reeves’ 2022 movie The Batman, which starred Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader.
That movie introduced audiences to low-level criminal Oz Cobb (played by Colin Farrell); the HBO series, which bridged the gap between Reeves’ first DC outing and the planned sequel, has focused on Cobb’s violent journey from underworld underdog to formidable Gotham villain. Season 1 comes to an end this weekend.
Farrell’s performance as Oz is as captivating as they come. But everyone in the series delivers.
