There is no “friction” with the Bharatiya Janata Party, said Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale on Saturday, scotching speculation of a rift between the BJP and its ideological fountainhead RSS. Calling both organisations parts of a “big family”, Hosabale reiterated that the unity between the two remains intact. He highlighted that any disagreements between the RSS and BJP are internal matters and they should be handled at the “family and organisational level”.

Pointing to BJP president JP Nadda’s statement before the April-June general elections, Hosabale said that if his “brother” says something, it remains a family issue — one to be addressed internally, without the need for public scrutiny.

He also revealed that, shortly after his statement, they met and shared meals at Nadda’s residence, reaffirming their cordial terms and dismissing any notion of bitterness.

Hosabale’s statements came in the backdrop of increasing speculation about a political divide between the RSS and the BJP. Clearing the air over the rift controversy, he said, “There are forces that want to create division,” adding that the organisations must always remain united.

According to Hosabale, the relationship between the two organisations, although distinct, is not one of dependency but self-sufficiency, as each must stand on its own feet while being aligned on broader goals and in the national interest.

He further spoke about the idea of inclusivity in politics, emphasising that the RSS does not believe in “political untouchability”.

He added that there should be no form of untouchability, be it related to caste or politics. The RSS, he stated, does not harbour animosity towards any political group. “We don’t foster hatred for anyone,” Hosabale said. “We invite all, even Rahul Gandhi, to come and talk to us.”

This message carries weight, especially in the current political climate, where Gandhi always mentions the RSS in his political speeches and holds the organisation responsible for the perceived communal disharmony in the country.

Hosabale’s emphasis on “mohabbat ki dukan” (a shop of love) — a phrase often associated with Rahul Gandhi’s recent political campaign — serves as a subtle critique of the Congress leader’s rhetoric. He pointed out that while some speak of love and unity, they remain unwilling to engage in dialogue with the RSS. This reluctance, he suggested, undermines the very ideals that they claim to cultivate.
