Baba Siddique News LIVE: Baba Siddique, a former Maharashtra minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader, was shot dead by three men outside his MLA son Zeeshan Siddiqui’s office in Mumbai’s Bandra on Saturday.
The NCP leader Siddique’s last rites were performed with full state honour at Bada Qabrastan, near the Marin Lines. Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced a state funeral for Siddique, who has served as a Minister of State for various departments and also the President of MHADA.
The police on Sunday arrested the third accused in the NCP leader’s murder case. The accused, identified as Pravin Lonkar, was arrested from Pune. He is believed to be one of the key conspirators who enlisted Dharmaraj Kashyap and Shivkumar Gautam, the absconding shooter in the plot.
So far, the Mumbai Police have arrested two out of three shooters involved in the killing of the ruling party leader and have produced them before the court. The Esplanade Court in the city sent both the accused — Gurmail Singh and Dharamraj Kashyap — to police custody till October 21. Another shooter has been absconding, said the police.
