Recapping Day One Of PM Modi’s US Visit
Prime Minister Narendra Modi began his US visit with greetings from scores of members of the Indian diaspora who greeted him in Wilmington.
He then went to Greenville, where US President Joe Biden hosted him at his home after holding a bilateral meeting. The White House said that it was ‘personal meeting’ Biden held with PM Modi.
At the meeting, Biden praised PM Modi for visiting Kyiv in August and supported India’s bid to become a permanent member of the UN Security Council.
PM Modi attended the Quad Summit in Clayton, Delaware in Biden’s alma mater Archmere Academy along with Australian and Japanese Prime Ministers Anthony Albanese and Fumio Kishida, respectively.
The leaders in their joint statement released post-meeting voiced deep concern for Ukraine, condemned North Korea’s missile launches and terror attacks, launched the MAITRI initiative, Indo-Pacific Logistics Network and Quad-at-Sea Ship Observer Mission.
The Quad leaders attended the Cancer Moonshot Event where they announced measures to boost support for cancer patients in the Indo-Pacific. PM Modi pledged 40 million vaccine doses to Indo-Pacific countries under the GAVI and Quad initiatives.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has already departed for New York. He is scheduled to hold a community event in Nassau Coliseum on Sunday. The event is fully booked and members of the Indian diaspora will be present at the stadium to catch a glimpse of the Prime Minister.
