The Kremlin blast “dangerous and provocative” comments by outgoing NATO chief that President Putin was bluffing about nuclear escalation in response to West allowing Ukrainian deep strikes in Russia. Kremlin Spokesman, Dmitry Peskov said that, “this ostentatious desire not to take seriously the statements by the Russian President Vladimir Putin is a move that is completely short-sighted and unprofessional.” In an interview with The Times published on September 17, Stoltenberg suggested that allowing Ukraine to use Western long-range weapons to strike Russia would not lead to escalation as Putin “knows NATO is the strongest military alliance in the world”.
