Real Madrid are reportedly keen to land three Premier League stars. The reigning Champions League winners have secured some major signings like Kylian Mbappe and Endrick in the last summer transfer window. They seem to have already started planning a squad that will continue dominating European football for the foreseeable future. As they aim to build a new era of Galacticos, a recent report by the Independent has claimed that Real Madrid have their eyes set on three top players – Liverpool full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, Arsenal’s William Saliba and Manchester City midfielder Rodri. Tottenham Hotspur’s Cristian Romero has also come under their radar.
With Toni Kroos retiring last season, Real Madrid has now seen most of its key players in the last decade either hang their boots or leave on a transfer. Given the transition, the Spanish giants are now looking to prepare another star-studded team that can carry the legacy of the club. As per The Independent report, the ambitious scale has been proposed after years of financial realignment with Real Madrid targeting younger talents. The club’s strategy was partly influenced by the increasingly difficult financial competition from the Premier League and state-owned clubs.
With Dani Carvajal reaching the twilight phase of his career, Real Madrid will be looking to snoop up Alexander-Arnold on potentially a free transfer. The 25-year-old is in the final year of his contract with no news of an extension yet. The England star has redefined the right-back role in the Premier League with his attacking mindset. He has struck 106 goals in his 319 appearances for Liverpool.
Saliba has also become a prominent face in the Premier League in the last couple of years. Having broken into the Arsenal team two years ago, the 23-year-old has already cemented his place in the team’s defence. With Saliba spearheading the backline, the Gunners conceded only 29 league goals in the last campaign. If he shifts his base to the Spanish capital, Saliba may link up with Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba at the heart of Real Madrid’s defence.
Meanwhile, Rodri has been a mainstay in Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City over the last few years. Real Madrid are keeping tabs on the defensive midfielder. They believe Rodri might consider making a return to La Liga. The 28-yeard-old had parted ways with another Madrid-based club, Atletico, in 2019 to join Manchester City.
Real Madrid are third in the current La Liga table, having accumulated 11 points in three matches. They will face Espanyol in the next league fixture on September 22.
