Dave Kennedy, a local astronomy enthusiast, saw a weird hole on Portmarnock Beach. They were certain that the little, hefty rock within had fallen from the sky. The reporter even interviewed a supposed expert who said, “As you can see here, there’s a scorch mark on this side. So it must have been the angle at which it came down, and it’s heavy.”

She concluded, “I’m not sure if it’s structure, but we’ll definitely have to find out.” The reporter ended the segment by saying that the “fascinating hole soon caught the attention of passersby” and “many are hoping that what they are seeing is the result of a once-in-a-lifetime cosmic event.”

Later, a video became viral, which resolved the whole situation. It was shared on the official X handle of Virgin Media News. “Meteorite mystery solved! The mystery of the hole on a north Dublin beach has apparently been solved — denting the hopes of a local space enthusiast, who had hoped it was the site of a meteor strike,” reads the caption.
