Russia warned the US against bandying President Vladimir Putin’s name during presidential debates. Moscow’s warning came after Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and Republican nominee Donald Trump took part in a heated debate on September 10. In a strongly worded statement soon after the debate, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Moscow disliked how Putin’s name was used in the debate. He said the US was hostile and negative towards Russia, and the Kremlin hoped that the candidates would drop such references to Putin. Meanwhile, during the debate, Trump avoided answering a question on whether he wanted Ukraine to win the war against Russia.
