Lionel Messi has failed to make it to the top ten in the latest edition of the EA Sports FC series. The Argentine legend finds himself placed at the 16th spot. While the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner finds himself behind seven Premier League plays on an overall rating of 88, Cristiano Ronaldo is nowhere in the top 25. He is likely to have a rating of 86. The likes of Kylian Mbappe, Rodri, Erling Haaland, Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, Kevin De Bruyne and Harry Kane, among others, are leading the line of top-rated players on FC 25. Bellingham’s sensational debut season at Real Madrid helped in making a massive gain in the rankings. The official X (formerly Twitter) handle of EA Sports FC 25 recently revealed the set of highest-rated players, including the top ones.

Lionel Messi had first appeared in the video game series in 2005. Throughout the years, Messi’s overall rank on the series touched as high as 94 as he continued rivaling Cristiano Ronaldo for the top spot. While the rollout for the much-anticipated game is currently in full swing, fans can get their hands on EA FC 25 later this month, after the game’s release.

Kylian Mbappe has secured a rating of 91. He is the top-rated player, along with the Manchester City duo of Rodri and Erling Haaland. Mbappe, Haaland and Kevin De Bruyne were the best players in FC 24. Rodri, who was at 89, received a significant upgrade this year, replacing De Bruyne. Apart from the three players, four more figures now have the second-best rating of 90. These include two players from Real Madrid and one each from Manchester City and Bayern Munich. Additionally, Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk and Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard have been both ranked at 89.

Others above Lionel Messi are, shot-stoppers like Gianluigi Donnarumma, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Alisson Becker, Thibaut Courtois, Inter Milan’s Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez and Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah.

Those sharing the same ranks with Lionel Messi are the Manchester City duo of Phil Foden and Ruben Dias, French forward Antoine Griezmann and Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski, among others, each having a rating of 88.
