Andhra Pradesh: The video shows people jostling and grabbing illegal liquor bottles lined up at a destruction facility by the police in Guntur.

In Andhra Pradesh’s Guntur, what began as a routine police operation to destroy illegal liquor quickly spiralled into chaos as people looted the bottles. As police lined up thousands of liquor bottles at a dumping yard for disposal, crowds couldn’t resist the temptation and made off with the loot. A video capturing the incident has gone viral on social media.

The now-viral video shows people swarming to snatch the bottles while police attempt to chase them off. A JCB loader, likely brought in to crush the illegal liquor, is also visible in the video amidst the pandemonium.

“Guntur, Andhra Pradesh: Police destroyed illegal liquor worth Rs. 50 lakh at a dumping yard. During the destruction, some youths and drunkards took advantage of the situation and looted drug bottles in front of the police,” wrote IANS news agency while sharing the video on X (formerly known as Twitter).

This, however, is not the first time when mass looting of liquor took place. In July this year, people looted liquor boxes that fell from a vehicle after it hit a speed bumper. A total of 30 boxes of the total 110 fell of the vehicle.

Sandeep Yadav, residing in Rajpur Chungi, revealed that he operates a liquor shop in Mitawali village. During transit from Transport Nagar to his shop, a total of 110 boxes were being transported, but unfortunately, 30 boxes fell along the way. Locals swiftly took advantage of the situation, absconding with the fallen boxes.
