Apart from Mohamed Salah, Liverpool may reportedly lose two more players– Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker– to Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2025.
Three Liverpool stars may leave Anfield for Saudi Arabia during the next summer transfer window.
Mohamed Salah has been heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia since last season. His current contract with the Reds is set to expire at the end of the 2024-25 campaign. A recent report by Caught Offside claimed that apart from Salah,
Liverpool may reportedly lose two more players– Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker– to Saudi Arabia in the summer of 2025. Similar to Salah, Van Dijk has also reached the final year of his Liverpool contract.
The Premier League side has kept their eyes on Juventus defender Gleison Bremer. The 27-year-old Brazilian can be seen as a long-term replacement for Virgil van Dijk, the report added. In the recently concluded transfer window, Liverpool reportedly made some attempts to sign Bremer. The English club has put forward a €60 million bid for the Juventus star, as per Tuttojuve. The Italian side, however, was adamant about not selling the player. Liverpool may revisit the deal with a better offer in June next year when Van Dijk’s contract expires.
The Dutchman arrived at Anfield in 2019 agreeing to a deal worth €84.65 million. He has represented Liverpool in 273 matches across all competitions while winning eight trophies which include the Premier League and Champions League.
Meanwhile, Alisson Becker is slated to remain a Liverpool player till 2026. Liverpool has already found a replacement for the Brazilian goalkeeper in the form of Giorgi Mamardashvili. The former Valencia goalkeeper can be the first choice for Arne Slot in the next season.
Alisson, who joined Liverpool from Roma in 2018, reportedly, wants to continue his career at Anfield. He was, reportedly, approached by some Saudi Pro League clubs earlier this summer. Alisson, however, turned down those offers. “I want to honour my contract and finish my contract here or make a new one. I am really happy here. My family is happy,” he told British media outlets in an interview published earlier this year, as per ESPN.
Having played three matches so far in the Premier League, Liverpool have collected nine points. In their next match, the Arne Slot-coached side will be up against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, September 14.
