Ajeet, the 31-year-old Etawah native, claimed the silver medal with a best throw of 65.62m – his personal best. Gurjar, the current world record holder and the Tokyo Paralympics bronze medalist once again grabbed the bronze medal with a best throw of 64.96m
India’s strong showing in the Javelin throw event continued with Ajeet Singh and Sundar Singh claiming silver and bronze medals in the Men’s Javelin Throw F46 event at the Paris Paralympics 2024, while India’s third representative Rinku finished fifth at Stade de France on Tuesday.
Cuba’s Guillermo Varona Gonzalez, with a personal best throw of 66.14m claimed the gold medal. Gonzalez came into the Games as the reigning World Champion having won gold at the World Championships in Kobe, Japan earlier this year, and bettered his fourth-place finish at the Tokyo Paralympics.
Ajeet, the 31-year-old Etawah native, claimed the silver medal with a best throw of 65.62m – his personal best. Ajeet was placed 8th at the Tokyo Paralympics Games in 2021.
Gurjar, the current world record holder and the Tokyo Paralympics bronze medalist once again grabbed the bronze medal with a best throw of 64.96m – his season best.
Rinku, with a best throw of 61.65m, his season best, could only manage a fifth-place finish in a stacked field. The 25-year-old had finished second behind Gonzalves in the World Championship in Kobe, Japan earlier this year.
With the two Javelin medals, India’s tally rose to 18 medals on Day 6 after Deepthi Jeevanji claimed bronze in the Women’s 400m T20 earlier in the day.
