Donald Trump’s former aide Anthony Scaramucci says Melania wants Kamala Harris to defeat her husband, with whom she has ‘frosty’ ties.

Anthony Scaramucci, the former White House communications director, said Donald Trump’s wife Melania is secretly hoping that US Vice President and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris wins the election in November.

“She hates Donald Trump,” Scaramucci claimed while speaking to Ben Meiselas who hosts a podcast for digital news outlet MeidasTouch.

“Maybe Melania Trump. That could be the only person I think of,” Scaramucci said, while answering a question on who is more keen to see Kamala Harris take over the White House.

“My wife hates Trump as much as Melania does,” he further added, before telling his host Ben that he would be nicer to Trump as compared to Melania.

The former first lady has been notably absent from several key events, including the election launch in Iowa and Trump’s Super Tuesday celebrations.

Super Tuesday is when multiple US states hold primary elections to choose their preferred presidential candidates. When asked about her involvement in the political campaign, she simply responded by saying “Stay tuned”. She was also absent during the first US presidential debate in Atlanta.

Donald Trump, in September 2023, described his wife as a ‘private person’.

“She’s a private person, a great person, a very confident person, and she loves our country very much,” the former US president said at the time during an interview with Meet the Press.

“She is going to be there when the time is right,” Trump had said.

Melania Trump attended the Republican National Convention in July and was met with raucous cheers in Milwaukee when she appeared on stage donning a bright red skirt suit by Christian Dior.

A report by broadcaster BBC pointed out that Melania broke all the rules that former First Ladies followed after her husband was first elected in 2016. A report by the broadcaster termed her a ‘reclusive figure’ as compared to her predecessors.

It also said that since her husband left office, she has rarely been spotted alongside him. It highlighted that Melania was not present as Trump had his mugshot taken in Atlanta and was also absent when Trump became the first former president to be convicted of a crime.
