Manu Bhaker took inspiration from batting legend Sachin Tendulkar’s journey and it motivated her to chase her dreams.

Having shot to stardom with her historic performance at the recent Paris Olympics, shooter Manu Bhaker is basking in the glory of her achievements. She recently met with cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar and revealed how the batting legend motivated her to chase her dreams. Bhaker is the first ever Indian (post independence) to win multiple medals at a single edition of Summer Games having won  a bronze each in the 10m air pistol mixed team event and then 25m pistol event.

“The one and only Sachin Tendulkar sir!” Bhaker expressed his delight at having met the former India captain and shared a series of images posing alongside him while proudly displaying her medals.

“Feeling blessed to share this special moment with the cricketing icon! His journey motivated me and many of us to chase our dreams. Thank you sir for unforgettable memories!” she added.

In an interview, Manu had talked about the sportspersons she would like to spend a day including Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and Usain Bolt.

“Maybe I’ll name a few of my favourites. Usain Bolt is one of them. I’ve read his book so many times and I’ve known his journey as well as I’ve watched so many of his interviews too. And then, in India, cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Dhoni sir MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. It would be an honour to spend even an hour with any of them!,” Manu had told Cosmopolitan.

With the bronze medal in 10m air pistol event in Paris, Manu ended India’s 12-year-wait for an Olympic medal in shooting. She would return home with two medals – a performance that has cemented her place among the greatest Indian sportspersons.
