A video shows how a Dahi Handi event at IIT Dhanbad turned chaotic within seconds after a tussle broke out among devotees.
Dahi Handi celebrations are the most happening part of Janmashtami. Devotees form a human pyramid, where one of them climbs up, and breaks the clay pot. The old-time custom is celebrated to mark Krishna’s love for makhan. Even though this is a joyful celebration, occasionally chaos ensues as a large number of people are involved. A video, on social media, shows how Dahi Handi festivities at IIT Dhanbad turned chaotic within seconds after a tussle broke out among devotees.
The video opens with a group of men trying to create a human pyramid while playing Dahi Handi. A few seconds later, a person is seen trying to pull down one of the devotees. He then breaks the entire pyramid by grabbing a person’s leg. Soon, the group is seen fighting. At that point, the organisers ask people to vacate the premises.
A user commented, “Dahi handi turned into dangal.”
Another user criticised the incident stating, “What are they doing while playing Dahi Handi? These people spoil a good festival.”

Echoing the same sentiments, a user said, “How can they do this on a festival like Janmashtami? Nowadays, no one is really celebrating festivals, it’s all about showing off and no faith at all! Really sad to this!”
