A Hyderabad man who joined Zepto as a part-time delivery partner shared his hands-on experience and pointed out key areas that need improvement.

Taking inspiration from a Bengaluru woman, who worked for a day as a delivery partner for Blinkit, a man from Hyderabad joined Zepto as a part-time delivery partner. He shared his experience in a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter) and highlighted several issues that need to be fixed.

“I delivered for Zepto yesterday in Hyderabad to know how it works and its crazy ops. Talked with riders, customers & store managers and there’s a lot to look back,” wrote Dinesh on X (formerly Twitter).

As per the screenshot shared online, one can earn up to Rs 40,000 a month if they join the company full-time and work for 9 hours. Part-time work, requiring 4-5 hours a day, can yield up to Rs 25,000 while working 9 hours on Sundays alone can bring in up to Rs 12,000.

Dinesh highlighted flaws in the document verification process, noting that images often become blurry and misaligned after being captured. He suggested automating the entire verification process to improve efficiency. Dinesh also mentioned a lack of clarity on the next steps after verification. “I had to go with a rider for training. 4 out of 5 people declined to help out as everyone was busy. great if managers could help here. There is a lot to know here on, what to do, where to do it,” he added.

He further claimed that there was no place for delivery partners to sit inside the store, and even the water dispensers were not functional. “I heard there is one inside, but no partner went beyond the order pickup point, so I assume not…. Not sure how to get a raincoat and other gear, the store didn’t have any. got drenched.”

The man also stated that his trainer’s bike broke down mid-way, highlighting the need for the company to improve its “mid-order support”.

He even highlighted the technical issues, stating, “Few riders were made to use WhatsApp groups to update order status, bag logs which I’m pretty sure store managers are handling manually and this in-home > updates.”

Dinesh concluded by sharing “guestimates” after speaking with partners who have worked at the company for over a year: “Working hours: 8. Delivered orders per hour: 3 (my average as a first-timer). Total orders per day: 24 orders. Total orders per week: 168 orders. Estimated monthly earnings (based on 168 orders per week): 32,941 INR.”
