The woman claims she was mistreated at a Louis Vuitton store in China, where staff avoided her requests and showed outdated items.

In a real-life twist reminiscent of Julia Roberts’ Pretty Woman, an unidentified woman in China made a dramatic statement against Louis Vuitton (LV) staff. Just as Roberts’ character taught a rude saleswoman a lesson by flaunting her luxury purchases, this woman took a stand against LV employees. According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP), she felt mistreated during her visit to an LV store in Chongqing, where staff allegedly ignored her requests and showed her outdated items. Feeling humiliated, she waited two months, gathered 600,000 yuan (approximately Rs 70 lakh), and returned to the store. After making the staff count the cash, she walked out without making a purchase.

As per SCMP, the woman took to the local social media platform Xiaohongshu to share her frustrating experience. On her initial visit, the woman carried a Hermes handbag but the staff looked disinterested in assisting her. Later, when she requested water, she was ignored and was shown previous seasons clothes instead of the new arrivals. Upset by the treatment, she tried to take matters into her own hands and contacted the luxury brand’s headquarters, but her complaints were left unanswered.

She explained that during her second visit, she was accompanied by her personal assistant and a friend, who tried a few clothes and expressed their interest in buying them. She then handed over a huge sum of cash to the staff, who spent two hours counting the notes. However, after the staff carefully counted each yuan, the woman informed them, “We don’t want to buy now. We are leaving. After they finished counting it, I just took away my money and left. How is it possible for me to buy their products to improve their work performance?”

Louis Vuitton’s China office has not yet commented on the situation. This incident follows a similar one from 2021 when a woman claimed she was asked to leave twice by staff at a luxury beauty store while resting. She felt insulted due to her casual attire and lack of makeup. The incident, which went viral online, led to an apology from the store manager.
