Karissa Widder posted a video on Instagram where she is seen getting ready for her baby’s funeral, leaving millions of viewers shocked.

Social media is a place where you can find all sorts of content, but it often blurs the line between personal moments and public sharing. This was evident recently when an American influencer faced backlash for sharing a video that many have found disturbingly inappropriate. Karissa Widder posted a video on her Instagram handle where she is seen getting ready for her baby’s funeral. The clip, in which she smiles and twirls in a polka-dot dress, left millions of viewers shocked and deeply unsettled.

“Getting ready for my baby’s funeral where I got ready for my wedding,” she said in a text overlay on her video. She also included a scene of herself in her wedding dress at the same location. She explained in the caption, “We had her celebration of life when we got married. No better place to celebrate our girl. Thank you One Eleven East for being the beautiful backdrop for the biggest moments of our lives.”

Since being shared just two days ago, Widder’s post has captured significant attention online, accumulating over 12 million views. Although Widder decided to turn off comments, her decision has done little to quell the uproar. A Reddit user shared the video with the caption, “Today in “WTF did I just see?” prompting a flurry of responses.

One user expressed, “I was enraged with this post . I also saw an Indian couple burying their infant (dead) on reels ..who does that ? Have people lost their conscience, mind and everything for a few likes and comments…”

Another added, “Saw this yesterday, there are people supporting her and saying this is what apparently grief looks like. She was actually smiling and twirling while preparing for the kid’s funeral.”

An individual questioning the authenticity of grief, writing, “Those who are saying that this is grief, do you also record yourself and put out content for views in grief? No you don’t.”

“This disturbed me to the core, I’m still not over my miscarriage I cry rivers when I think of it even after having two kids later, HOW is she twirling around what kind of coping mechanism is this?!!!!,” a person shared.

“The day instagram, Facebook, YT shorts is completely shut down these people will learn a lesson,” another pointed out.

However, not everyone condemned Widder’s actions. Some defended her with one Reddit user commenting, “It is her way of healing. Her story is heartbreaking. She wants to share it, let her be.”

Another added, “Her story is incredibly sad. And heartbreaking. The baby died a few days ago. She’s already healing and taking counselling for baby birth / loss and trauma. I understand that this was not needed but people cope in different ways and she’s very vocal about being normal and trying her best during these difficult moments. I don’t support the decision to upload this but grief strikes in ways you can’t imagine.”
