Egg puffs have now become the centre point of a political row in Andhra Pradesh as the ruling TDP has brought the role of former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy under scrutiny for alleged extravagant spending on snacks during his tenure. A massive political debate has erupted between the Chandrababu Naidu-led TDP and the YSRCP in the state over the expenses incurred by Reddy’s office.
Hitting out at the previous YSRCP government in Andhra Pradesh, the TDP claimed that the previous Jagan Mohan Reddy government spent a staggering Rs 3.62 crores on egg puffs during its tenure between 2019 and 2024.
According to a report circulating on social media, the CMO’s annual expenditure on the snacks averaged Rs 72 lakhs, equating to a daily consumption of 993 egg puffs. Over the entire five-year period, this amounts to 18 lakh egg puffs.
The revelations sparked massive debate in Andhra Pradesh with the ruling TDP raising serious concerns regarding the potential misuse of public funds during Reddy’s administration.
‘Nobody Is Eggs-aggerating’: TDP Hits Out At YSRCP
Taking a jibe at the YSRCP, the TDP took to X and wrote, “Nobody is eggs-aggerating. That’s your area of eggs-pertise. Everyone’s just eggs-pressing facts that are beginning to hatch out of shells now. This is just the beginning of an eggs-ploration into your misdeeds. Don’t be terri-fried so early, YSRCP. (BTW, can that Y stand for yolk now?)”
The TDP’s reaction came out in response to the YSRCP’s tweet in which the party slammed a journalist for spreading baseless rumors without verifying facts or citing credible sources.

The “Egg Puff Scandal” intensified when the TDP government led by Chandrababu Naidu initiated a thorough investigation into the financial irregularities of the previous administration.
Earlier, former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy came under the scanner after the ruling TDP accused him of constructing a luxurious resort on Rushikonda Hill in Visakhapatnam for his ‘personal use’.
