An auto driver in Bengaluru won hearts for returning money left behind by a passenger the following day.
A Bengaluru auto driver has earned widespread praise for his honesty. On Reddit, a passenger shared that they inadvertently left extra money after a ride booked through the Namma Yatri app, from Indiranagar to the BSK area. The driver, demonstrating exceptional integrity, took the initiative to return the extra money.
The user shared that during the ride, the driver stopped at a petrol pump to refuel and requested the passenger to transfer the amount for fuel online to the pump attendant. The bill came to Rs 230 and the driver assured that he would return the remaining Rs 30 in cash after the ride.
“Yesterday, I booked a Namma Yatri from Indiranagar to my home in BSK 2nd stage and I had to pay around 200 Rs. In the middle of the ride, the auto driver stopped at a petrol pump for fuel and asked me to PhonePe the money directly to the petrol pump attendant. The bill was 230 Rs, and he said he would pay the remaining 30 Rs back to me in cash. I agreed and paid,” the user wrote on Reddit.
During the ride, the passenger and driver engaged in casual conversation about various topics such as politics and current affairs. However, as they approached the destination, the passenger became occupied with a work call and hurriedly left. In the rush, the Reddit user forgot to collect the remaining Rs 30 cash from the driver, who also forgot about it.
The next morning, the driver knocked on the user’s house and returned Rs 30 that he had forgotten to give the previous day.
“Today morning, around 10 AM, someone knocked on my door. I opened it, and to my surprise, it was the auto driver. He returned the 30 Rs and apologized for forgetting to pay me back yesterday. We both smiled, and he went back to his auto. It was a wholesome moment, and it was truly amazing to see someone with such honesty and effort to pay back,” the user wrote.
