A software engineer working at Google claimed she was facing severe hair loss due to hard water in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru is a popular city among tech professionals, but it has its own disadvantages. Yet again, the city is making headlines after a software engineer working at Google claimed she was facing severe hair loss due to the city’s hard water. On X, the woman revealed she had to switch to RO water for washing her hair to prevent going bald.

In her post, she decided to take advice from locals about effective water solutions or filters to tackle the issue. Her post quickly caught attention and garnered mixed reactions. While some offered practical and useful tips, others shared hilarious reactions.

Sharing the post, the engineer wrote, “I need to switch to RO water to wash my hair in Bengaluru, else there will be none left. PS: If anyone is using any water softening solution/ filter and has seen results, please share the link.” Since the woman shared her experience on X, it has garnered over 1 Million views.

Responding to her post, when Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair wrote, “PS: I wash my hair with Cauvery water (BWSSB) all my life in Bengaluru.” The engineer replied and explained that her hair might not be used to the water in Bengaluru yet and the water quality can differ depending on the area.

Another shared, “I use bottled water in hyd. I swear cities like Delhi, Bangalore and Hyderabad have huge water problems. Mumbai and even Guwahati never had this.”

“My wife has installed a separate water purifier inside the bathroom just for bathing. She says it’s the best 8k she invested for her hair. Livpure glo pro,” a comment read.

Another wrote, “I also live in Bangalore, where the TDS of the water is 160-170, and the TDS of the filtered water is 50-60. This has affected my hair, leading to premature greying. I believe that the water in my hometown’s well is the best, as it contains natural minerals like calcium, which is incomparable to any filtered water.”

An individual jokingly shared, “I want to share my experience. I came to Bangalore in 2022 for the next 6 months. I lost all my hair, tried all the ways from water to treatment, did not leave traya fraya etc. Then one of my PG mates told me to visit Dr Batra.”

One more added, “Things like these sometimes make wonder, why do we even come to these big cities leaving peace, comfort and love back home. Most of us want to go back home, but somehow setup does not allow. Atleast happens with me.”

Dr Madhuri Agarwal, in an interview with Vogue, explained that hard water contains high levels of magnesium, silica, and calcium. These minerals can build up on your skin and hair, leading to issues. Hard water also prevents soap from rinsing off properly, leaving a “soapy residue” on your skin and hair.
