A commuter shared that he had boarded a bus from Electronic City to Silk Board at 5 am and was still stuck in traffic hours later.
Heavy rains early Monday brought Bengaluru to a standstill with city streets resembling and residents struggling to cope. The downpour caused significant traffic snarls, making it nearly impossible for the vehicles to navigate the city. The Bengaluru Traffic Police has issued traffic advisories, warning commuters about the challenges posed by the waterlogged roads. Amid this, one commuter shared his ordeal on X, revealing he had boarded a bus from Electronic City to Silk Board at 5 am and was still stuck in traffic hours later, having not reached his destination even by 8 am.
Sridhar Swaminathan replied to a post from the Madivala Traffic Police Station’s post on X, where they had issued a traffic advisory concerning severe waterlogging on city’s Hosur road. The post, written in Kannada, included pictures and videos of vehicles struggling to navigate the flooded road, stating, “Water logging on Hosur main road from Bommanahalli to Silk Board Junction and from Silk Board Junction to Bommanahalli Rupena Agrahara is causing slow movement of traffic in and out of the city and motorists are using alternative roads.”

In another tweet directed to Bengaluru Traffic Police, he wrote, “Sir what cooperation you need. We are stuck in traffic from 5:30. Yet to reach the Silk Board. People need patience not cooperation. Pl your proactive action will help to regulate the congestion rather than posting photos after 2 hrs.”

Swaminathan also shared in separate tweets the struggles faced by other, particularly elderly individuals, who are finding it increasingly difficult to endure the prolonged delay.
A fellow X user jokingly commented on a photo showing the long queues of traffic, asking, “Hope u packed enough breakfast + lunch and maybe dinner for the loong ride to work today?” Swaminathan replied, “You can plan for your intakes. How about nature’s call. Had a very bad day. The bus from Electronic City to Silk Board took 3 hrs. In the bus there are a lot of aged travellers also finding it very difficult.”
