Grateful for the blessings and support, India’s double Olympic bronze medalist Manu Bhaker thanked the Prime Minister after meeting with the Indian Olympic contingent on India’s 78th Independence Day.

India’s double-medalist, Manu Bhaker took to social media to thank the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for meeting with the Indian Olympic Contingent on Thursday to celebrate India’s 78th Independence Day.

The Indian Olympic Contingent had met with the PM at the Red Fort as well as his residence where Modi had addressed the athletes, congratulating them on their performance at the recently concluded Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Bhaker took to Instagram to thank the Prime Minister with a post captioned, “On the occasion of Independence Day, it was a delight to meet the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi ji, at the Red Fort as well as his official residence.

Thank you for your wishes and we hope to continue making the country proud with your blessings. Jai Hind,” she added

During her interaction with PM Modi, Bhaker was seen explaining to the PM about the pistol with which she shot down two bronze medals — in 10m air pistol and 10m air pistol mixed event — in Paris.

The Indian marksman had a stellar outing at the Parisian Games where she bagged two bronze medals, creating history in the process. She had won a bronze medal during the Women’s 10m Air Pistol final and teamed up with Sarabjot Singh to win the mixed team event as well.

During her campaign at the Paris Olympics, she also became the first-ever athlete to bag two medals in a single edition of the quadrennial event, thus taking Indian shooting to even greater heights.

Swapnil Kusale also bagged a bronze medal which came in the Men’s 50m rifle 3 Positions event as well. The shooting contingent had their best-ever performance in an edition of the Olympics with a collective tally of three bronze medals.

PM Modi addressed the members of the Indian contingent and also interacted with some of them including shuttler Lakshya Sen. Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and Indian Olympic Association president PT Usha were also present.

The Indian men’s hockey team, which won its second consecutive bronze at the Paris Games, presented the PM with a stick signed by all the players.

The players, including the just-retired PR Sreejesh and captain Harmanpreet Singh, were seen posing with the Prime Minister with the bronze medals on their necks.
