India at Paris Olympics 2024, Day 15 Results: Indian Campaign Ends With Reethika Hooda’s

The Indian contingent’s challenge at Paris 2024 came to a close on Saturday as the women’s golfers Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar finished tied-29th and tied-49th respectively, while wrestler Reethika was ousted by Aiperi Medet Kyzy in the quarterfinal of the 76 Kg women’s freestyle event.

The Indian challenge at the Paris Olympics 2024 Came to an end as the women golfers and wrestler Reethika concluded their events on Saturday.

The nation’s Women’s Golf event, Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar finished their individual stroke play round four with a tied-29th place and a tied-49th place finish.

While the country’s last remaining wrestler Reethika Hooda managed to pick up a dominant win over Hungary’s Bernadett Nagy to enter the quarterfinal but was shown the exit door by Kazakhstan’s Aiperi Medet Kyzy in the quarterfinal.

Hopes of a bronze through repechage also came to an end as Kyzy went down in the semifinal bout and the Indian campaign in France came to an end.

Golf- Women’s Individual Stroke Play (Round 4):  Aditi Ashok finished tied at 29th place, Diksha Dagar ended tied at 49th place.

Wrestling- Women’s 76 Kg Freestyle, Round of 16: Reethika Hooda beat Bernadett Nagy of Hungary 12-2.

Wrestling- Women’s 76 Kg Freestyle, Quarterfinal: Reethika Hooda lost to Aiperi Medet Kyzy of Kazakhstan on technicality after the bout ended 1-1.

India end their Paris Olympics with six medals, one silver and five bronze.

However, the Indian contingent might receive an extra medal if the CAS rules in favour of Vinesh Phogat after the wrestler moved the court following the disqualification result she was handed on the day of the 50 Kg Women’s freestyle final as she failed to make weight on the day.

The wrestler claimed that she deserved a joint silver as she had made her way t the final of the event on the day she had managed to successfully meet the weight stipulations for the event.

Vinesh opened her event with an upset win over three-time world champion and Olympic gold medallist Yui Susaki, who was hitherto unbeaten with an 82-0 record in international events.

She then breezed past Oksana Livach of Ukraine in the quarterfinal of the event before a 5-0 win over Cuban grappler Yusneylys Guzman in the semifinal to become the first Indian woman to reach an Olympic wrestling final.

Vinesh failed to make weight on the following day as she weighed 100 grams over the stipulated 50 Kg and was handed a DQ result, against which she has appealed.
