Former Indian cricket team spinner Harbhajan Singh revealed that he did not watch India’s recently concluded series against Sri Lanka as the 44-year-old was tuned into the Paris Olympics 2024.

The 33rd edition of the Olympics came to an end at the French capital city on Sunday, as the Indian contingent managed to close out the latest instalment of the sporting extravaganza with six medals, one silver and five bronze.

During the quadrennial fest, the Sri Lankan cricket team also scripted history of their own as they picked up a series win over India to put an end to a wait of 27 years.

“To be honest, I have not seen a single ball of cricket during the India versus Sri Lanka series because I was watching only the Olympics. WHen the Olympics are on, you don’t take your eyes off it” the off-spinner said.

“It was one of those things. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose it. It’s sports after all,” the 44-year-old added.

“All cricketers go through these periods. You play well but you still don’t win,” he continued.

Singh credited the Sri Lankan team for their performance which resulted in a rare win for the island nation.

“I will give credit to Sri Lanka. They played well. They played better than India. They have done something better than India to achieve a rare series victory against India,”

Singh alluded to the weakened bowling unit of the men in blue as sta seamer Jasprit Bumrah was rested citing workload management, but lauded Sri Lanka’s efforts to get the better of an Indian unit which boasted a strong batting order/

“India’s bowling was not at its peak during the series without Bumrah. But they had Kohli, Rohit… a great batting lineup with KL Rahul coming back. It’s a good achievement for Sri Lankan cricket. Hopefully, Team India will be back on their tracks,” the former Indian player said.
