Iran has reportedly requested advanced air defence systems from Russia as it prepares for a possible war with Israel. Russia has started delivering advanced radars and air-defence equipment to Iran, the New York Times reported, citing two Iranian officials.The move comes amid heightened tensions in the region following the assassination of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.Iran’s supreme leader has ordered a direct strike on Israel over Haniyeh’s killing, which Tehran has blamed on Tel Aviv. American and Israeli officials have said they expect Iran and its allied militant groups to launch a large and coordinated attack on Israel.The groups, collectively known as the “Axis of Resistance,” include Hezbollah in Lebanon and the Houthis in Yemen.
