The aircraft of Bangladesh’s former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in which she fled the violence-hit country to India after resigning from her post, was the most tracked aircraft on real time globally on Monday.

According to Flightradar24, which allows the users to locate and track any flight in real time across the globe, the Bangladesh’s Air Force aircraft AJAX1413, was being tracked by over 29,000 people in the world. At around 4:30 pm, the aircraft was located above Uttar Pradesh’s Varanasi.

At around 6:30 pm, the aircraft reached Ghaziabad’s Hindon Air Base in a C-130 transport aircraft, news agency ANI said. “The aircraft will be parked near the Indian Air Force’s C-17 and C-130J Super Hercules aircraft hangars. The aircraft movement was monitored by Indian Air Force and security agencies from its entry into Indian airspace to Hindon airbase in Ghaziabad,” it said.

From here, the embattled prime minister would be taken to a safe place in the national capital. It is reported that she would fly to London. According to the sources, her departure is not immediate and she will be meeting Top Indian bureaucrats today.

Additionally, Hasina has requested for asylum in the UK and his accompanied by her sister Rehana, who is a UK citizenship the Hindu said.

As per the sources, Hasina will remain in India until she receives political asylum in a third country. No confirmation from the UK regarding political asylum for Hasina has been received so far. Hasina, 76, fled Bangladesh following month long massive and deadly anti-government protests across the country. Hasina, who has ruled since 2009, had defied weeks of demands for her to stand down but fled Dhaka.

Moments after Hasina resigned from her as country’s prime minister and fled the country on Monday, Bangladesh’s Army chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman took over the administration and announced the formation of an interim government.

In a television address the General confirmed Hasina’s resignation and took the responsibility of the government.

The Army chief said he had met political leaders and told them the Army would take over responsibility for law and order. As protests spiralled across the country, he said he had asked both Army and police not to fire any shots.

Bangladesh has been engulfed by massive protests and violence that began last month over the controversial quota system that reserves 30 per cent of the government jobs for the families of veterans who fought the 1971 liberation war.

According to Reuters, nearly 250 people have been killed in the violence so far.
